Renealmia alpinia is a flowering herbaceous perennial that can grow 1-6 meters tall from a rhizome up to 10-30 cm thick. The plant often forms large clumps of light green foliage which has a very sweet fragrance when crushed
From late spring and throughout the summer, a spectacular inflorescence appears composed of reddish flowers. Then come bright red fruits.
This plant requires rich soil and partial shade exposure. Pot culture should be favored in cooler regions.
