The stipe (trunk) is solitary, the palm is between 6 and 7 meters high and has a diameter of 20 cm. Leaves 3 meters long, bright green, with flaccid segments, more or less equidistant, arranged in 2 rows, with a line of peltate, greyish scales, on the underside of the midrib. Fruit 18 mm long, shiny yellow.

This graceful silhouette palm tree is a prominent decorative element, whether isolated on a lawn or in an alignment. However, its low hardiness (-10°C over very short periods of frost) reserves it for gardens in mild climates and verandas in cooler climates.
