Description:
There are two varieties of Nannorrhops ritchiana: one with “green” leaves presented here, and one with “silver” leaves. The first is more resistant to cold than the second, apart from that the second difference is, you guessed it, in the color of the leaves.

The green mazari palm, native to Pakistan, is one of the most resistant to cold and drought, it resists temperatures of -20°C!

The palm grows in its natural state, in arid to semi-desert areas, ranging from low altitude to just under 2000 meters above sea level. It grows where it finds water in the ground.

The stipe: it includes several stipes which can reach 10 meters in height and 25cm in diameter. The trunks are massive and gray. They can be covered with the base of the old split petioles. They tend to crawl on the ground.

Inflorescence: Nannorrhops ritchiana is hermaphroditic. The inflorescence extends from the heart of the crown, measures up to 2 meters, and comprises round brown fruits which contain a globose brown seed about 1.5cm in diameter.

The crown: consists of ten or twenty leaves. The crowns of leaves are monocarpic. When they die, they are replaced on the same stipe by a new crown.

The leaves: The leaves are costapalmate and are about 1 m wide. They have a green color. At their end, the rigid segments divide into two parts. The petiole, which is green and smooth, measures about 1m.
