This heliconia grows to a height between 2 and 4 meters in its native range.
It is a rhizomatous plant that provides numerous erect suckers of large clumps of leaves. The inflorescence is manifested by flowers called bracts, erect, with red and green colors.
Although it is possible to grow it in the ground in the garden, it is preferable to grow it in a pot and bring it indoors for the winter.
In temperate climates, flowering extends from May to August and even all year round in good conditions.
