Description:

Aloe ferox is a plant on the list of plants threatened with extinction.

This plant can reach 3 meters in height in its area of ​​origin and in optimal growing conditions. In a temperate climate this aloe will reach between 1 meter and 1.5 meter.

It produces fleshy and thick leaves, arranged in rosettes, which at maturity can weigh up to 2 kilograms. The leaves are green and edged with reddish-brown spines. Thorns are also present on the lower and upper sides of the leaves.

The inflorescence produces a meter-high bract covered with red or orange flowers.

Its leaves are full of a yellow sap which is used as a laxative and a white gel which is used in health drinks and for skin care. Be careful, the sap is toxic for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
