Description:

The Kobe magnolia is a small tree native to Asia with rapid growth and a vigorous habit. It reaches a maximum height of 10 meters and spreads over 4 meters.

Before the leaves appear, flowering is manifested in the spring by a multitude of white flowers which can sometimes be tinged with pink or purple at the base.

An easy-to-grow tree that supports pruning well, it is an ideal subject for bonsai cultivation or to give it a more reasonable size in the garden. It can be grown in a well-draining substrate and it is one of the very few magnolias to appreciate calcareous soils.

Its roots being fleshy, it is quite possible to plant it near a wall or a construction that it will not damage.
