Description:

The purple datura is a magnificent plant, it produces throughout the summer a profusion of purple flowers, double and wavy, ending in a funnel with five lobes.

The flowering period extends from May-June until frost. The flowers are 12 to 20 centimeters long and give off a pleasant smell in the evening and early morning.

The leaves are oval, broad, dark green in color and measure 25 centimeters long and 20 cm wide. The fruits have a size of 5 to 7cm in diameter covered with a down of slender prickles.

The datura loses its foliage in winter but the plant will come back the following spring.

Be careful because all varieties of Datura are toxic and poisonous.
